I mean the computer’s memory: where values live, how long they live there, who gets to touch them, and why certain bugs feel less like normal mistakes and more like you accidentally invited chaos into the basement and gave it a flashlight.
What is memory in programming, really?
At the beginner level, variables can feel magical.
You write:
x = 42
and the number appears to just exist because you said so.

If I copy a plain number, I usually get another number.

If you expected a to stay [1, 2, 3], welcome to the support group.

Strengths and weaknesses of different approaches
Manual memory management
Strengths: Maximum control, high performance potential, critical for systems work.

Garbage-collected memory
